So a quick status update on my life and times. I am still caring extra poundage but I am taking walks almost every single day.
My boy boy and I have been dating for 6+ months!
I haven’t been cooking a lot because I am too lazy to go grocery shopping.
And I’ve been volunteering at random things like a polka salsa festival. HOT STUFF!
No misadventures to report sadly. Me = boring.

I’ve been super busy and can’t begin to tell you what all I have been up to. This week has been a lot of dates with Oboe Bryan (going on 6 months on the 18th – eek!).
So far this week we took in a show at the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (which was super dorky and oh so fun). We dined out at Burritos En Fuego which has some of the tastiest quesadillas in Baltimore.
Today we’re going to the Federal Hill Jazz and Blues Festival which better have funnel cake or I am burning that place to the ground.
I love dating him he is my partner in crime and always down for going and doing whatever craziness I put upon him, like going to a symphony performance of video game songs. There were people dressed up like their favorite characters and it was so geektastic.
I’d heard that there were going to be pyrotechnics but unfortunately there weren’t, besides fire in a confined place full of virgins just sounds like a pagan ritual which I don’t want to be associated with.
So life is good even though I can hardly find the time to update this piece. I’ve still got the pudge, I’ve been walking every day, and that’s about it.
C’est la vie!

If loafing burned calories I would be a model, but unfortunately it doesn’t so I’m at quite the plateau right now. My original goal though was not to lose weight but to be more active and feel better about myself so I think I am still on my way to that achievement however slowly that may be.
Anyway I am super busy being lazy today and must be off!

The last two days it has been raining and the last two days I continued my commitment to developing a walking habit.
As if it doesn’t suck enough that I strolled around for 5 minutes in the dampness, I decided to further torture myself by asking my sister to come along.
It went really well! It’s amazing how little someone can annoy you in 5 minutes, so I’ve decided I should do this approach with some of my other relationships. When you know you can ditch them in just 5 minutes you’re more likely to put up with their shenanigans so I’m thinking of trying this approach with my father at some point to see if it rings true.
I should probably start with 1 minute with him though… I don’t want to overexert myself.

I’ve only on day two of my month long 5 minute-a-day walks but I’m finding them really enjoyable so far.
Today I got to see one of the neighborhood kids who last I remember was but a toddler. Now he is an oversized awkward preteen who apparently likes to shout at strangers or talk to himself. Or both.
I also learned that one of my neighbors who was ancient back when I was an awkward preteen is STILL alive. I saw her little white head bob up from behind a bush, she had glasses with lenses big as tea cozies and was tending her garden. I hope to be like her some day – live to a million, thin as a pencil, and still physically able to move about and wreak havoc in the neighborhood.
I’ll let you know how day 3 goes.
Scorecard:
Walking: 10 minutes

Things have been hectic at the Greg compound. Yesterday morning I was in Virginia when I got a message that my sister. My mother was up early surprisingly making breakfast when she informed her that my father, who has a heart condition, woke up in the middle of the night with severe indigestion. He went into my mother’s room to tell her that he was going to drive himself to the hospital at 5 o’clock in the morning because he was concerned.
She didn’t go with him. Slept in a little and then started cooking breakfast, no idea what hospital he went to or any fun stuff like that.
So I’ve been telling everyone my mom left my father for dead, but in the meantime to avoid ever being in my poor old dad’s shoes I will A.) workout and try to eat right to avoid such heart conditions and B.) not marry someone like my mother who would rather catch some Zs than drive someone to hospital when they are having internal distress.
With that said I did weigh myself on Sunday and weigh 181.5 lbs which is not so bad considering I think I ate out almost every single meal last week.

Today I also began going nowhere fast and trying to enforce good habits by taking walks. This month I start with 5 minutes every day, I can’t skip more than 2 days.
Those are my rules. I will also try to post.
So while I’m making virtually no progress in being fit I may have found an apartment! I will post more as soon as I have signed a lease and put down a deposit.
Exciting stuff! To me at least…

My computer sucks I had to take it back into the greasy hipsters that work at Apple. I think I got a tan while I was in the store and I’m pretty sure my hearing took a beating with the club music they pump into the place.
Still my computer is hopefully fixed once and for all so I can write boring updates about how I ate too many donuts and gained 5 pounds.
I’ve decided to start over on my work out scoreboard since my illness sort of shot that whole plan of action to hell. If I get sick again, I’m declaring exercise to be bad for my health.
That’s the only explanation.
The only one.

The gods have aligned themselves against me. Probably for laughing at a disabled person or wishing ill on a baby or something.
Whatever the reason – this weekend I slept and slept and slept because my tonsils were swollen the size of golf balls. I felt better on Monday and met with my Doctor, who determined that I have strep. She did a rapid strep test and the results came back negative. Now I’m on antibiotics and they sent my results to a lab so they can figure out what I do have and I should find out tomorrow. My fingers are crossed for something exotic!
As if that wasn’t enough, my computer power outlet also decided to commit suicide. And I’ve treated him so well.
I’m not sure which I’m more bothered by the mystery that is plaguing my body or having to go days with my Macbook lover.
It’s definitely the later who am I kidding. But on the bright side I lost weight as a result of eating Dayquil and Cinnamon Toast Crunch for almost 3 days.
Go me!

My boss always manages to let me off work early when I have to go somewhere after work and I don’t have enough time to stop home.
In that limbo period I decided to channel my inner 85 year old and do a little mall walking. Somehow I got distracted though because I’ve been looking for a nice pair of green pants. After picking through the garbage at my local Levis/Dockers Outlet I tried on an ill fitting pair of pants that gave me a serious case of camel tail. Which just recommitted me to my mall walking.
But then I got sidetracked by Bed, Bath and Beyond. It’s so bright in there I think I got a little bit of a tan. I scored a new hamper so now I don’t have to dump my clothes all over the floor. I also bought my favorite purchase of the year – a lint/hair removal brush thingy that is just like the one my mom/housemate has that I covet.
I even demoed it in the store because I was wearing all black!
After that I was so distracted I forgot about mall walking and ended up having to mall run to my car because I was going to be late for my event.
All in all I probably got about 5 minutes of actual walking in.
But 5 more than I would have done otherwise!
Fitness Scorecard:
Walking: 45 minutes
Lifting: 10 minutes (and my friggin’ arms still hurt)

Okay I don’t actually have a burning sensation when I pee, but I was trying to come up with a witty title for an entry about how I lifted weights for 10 minutes and now my arms feel like wet noodles.
It was a little dark when I came back from home and I get nervous enough walking in my neighborhood because everyone in my neighborhood apparently has Kujo looking dogs in their backyards (which have ridiculously tiny fences). That coupled with my never having eaten an entire carrot in my life leads to night vision and a precarious situation where I get mauled but a shitzu with no one to hear my cries.
So I still worked out for 10 minutes it just wasn’t walking…. so….
Here’s the tally
Workout Scorecard:
Walking: 40 minutes
Lifting: 10 minutes
